This past weekend I had the pleasure of helping my cousin decorate her son's first birthday party. She went with a Where the Wild Things Are theme and it turned out amazing. I couldn't wait to show you all the beautiful details she put together!
Her dessert table was the backdrop to the party, and by focusing all of her decorations in one spot she saved a ton of money. No need to redecorate the entire house, Momma! Keep it simple and pick one spot to make the biggest statement.
With a little help from our Balloon Garland tutorial, she created this beautiful balloon arch across the top of the backdrop. Creative girl - she has a large hutch in her dining room, so she simply draped a large white table cloth over it and attached the decorations directly to it with tape. Easy and it saved her from having to put tape or push pins all over her walls!
My favorite part was the set of gold balloons she picked up here in our shop. She added a handful of palm leaves from Hobby Lobby behind them, and sprinkled some on the table and throughout the balloon garland.
I created a matching high chair tassel banner for her, and added our brand new wood ONE banner over the top. It made for a great addition to the cupcake smash photos we took later that day.
The dessert table itself was just darling. She had a family friend do the baking, and purchased these cupcake toppers from Etsy. The flag banner and signs in the frames were purchased from Etsy and she simply printed them from home the day of the party, took 2 frames from the house and temporarily used them for the signs, and strung the flags on string she had in the house. Quick, inexpensive, and easy!
I think my favorite part of the party (besides eating the delicious cupcakes!) was the 'guest book' she had us all sign and write notes in. It fit the theme, and will be a cherished book for her son as he grows.
Job well done to my sweet cousin. I had so much fun taking pictures and enjoying the beautiful party she threw!
